Idle screw head broke off

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

the head of the idle screw on my 99 250sx broke off. I've tried getting at it with pliers but it hasn't helped. Also took the carb out and tried getting at it from the inside but I can't move it at all from there.

Any suggestions?

If there's not enough to get a hold of, you may have to try a reverse drill bit. Just the action of a reverse bit biting into it may be enough to back it out.

Drill a small hole in it and go buy an 'easy out'. It will come out very easily using an 'easy out'.

Could try some PB Blaster and allow it to sit for a while, then use a heat gun to heat the area around the screw, then try the pliers and turn it in the direction with the least resistance then back and forth until it loosens enough to back out. Is this a nylon screw?

Slavens has a metal screw when you get that puppy out. I had an air screw to seize in a carb once and using the PB Blaster and a little heat and patience it finally came out.
