1990 xr 200r won't idle

Recommended Posts

What's up guys this is my first post on the forum so don't get too mad at me if it's not posted in the correct spot. I've got a 1990 Honda xr 200r I just got street legal. I cannot get it to idle to save my life. So far I've replaced the plug, the plug connector, the air filter. Totally new carb, new throttle assembly and cable. And I sat the valves at 002 and 003. Still no idle. Can anyone shed some light? I'm dying here haha.

Check for clogged/plugged slow/pilot jet and check for missing o-ring at the idle mixture screw.

Also check/set proper float level while you are in there.

New carb as in new Honda PD carb or something else?

VortecCPI is right.. the idle circuit is likely your issue..

Every new carb I ever used got a tear down and clean before install..

You can't trust them to be spot on perfect.. and I have seen way out of wack float settings.. trash in the bowls.. plugged circuits..ect.

The Chinese knock offs are the worse..

How about a description of not idling.  Will it run with the choke on?  Does it take several kicks to start?  Can you keep it running with throttle?  The more info you provide the better the solution might be
