1984 xt 250l 4 valve dual carb and the slow restoration and upgrading

Recommended Posts

Have bogth myself a bike to use and upgrade next time im in the Philippines, the plan is to source and buy spare parts when i'm in Norway. so the questions is

1. can i use lower legs and hub from a air asisted  xt 350 dtr 200 fork on my fork to get disc brake mine is air assisted, the tube is the same diameter.

2. can i use a xt 350 dual carb as long as i change the jetting? The one i have have been tampered whit by a local. and is no longer usable. missing parts and corroded 3. can i use a exhaust manifoild from a xt 350. The one i have is bent and dinged.

4. can i use side panels from a xt 350. Mine is in a ruff shape

5. can i use a clutch from an xt 350

And yes the color is going to be striped away. Am a bit heavy so tats why  i want disc brake in front and a bigger cutch

I see no-one has answered you yet.Points 2,3,4 and 5 is yes.You probably dont even have to change the jetting on the carb.Point 1 i cannot say though.I have the 1984 XT250 DOHC and when i rebuilt mine all the parts were interchangeable.

New rear shock and spring. Am a bit heavyset so i needed a stronger unit so i vent whit this YSS shock absorber mz506-400trl-06-x yamaha tt 600 600 93> that fitted almost. Its ca 3 centimeters to long and upper mont has to be grinded a little bit, bolt are same dimensions had to use some washers on there because shock mont  is narrower. had to use some wire to compress spring so it would fit it's abut 3 cm to long but it fitts my fat as fine now
