2008 drz 400 sm wont fire up, has spark, fuel , compression

my drz sat for a while due to a bat rectifier and stator, replaced them, started right up, rode to gas it up and started back firing badly at half throttle while losing power, suspected carb to be defective, opened carb , signs of water damage , cleaned and tried to start, no go. replaced with a new oem carb, still wont start. im stumped, has spark , compression, fuel. any help will be nice, I just wanna ride!

How did the water get into the carb ?

Moisture buildup in guessing, anyways I have a brand new carb installed with still no luck

Have you checked for water anywhere else in the bike? If it got into the carb, it could've gotten into the crankcase too.

Im going to open the motor up and inspect, just going to change the rings while im at it, was hoping for other suggestions before I do, but I guess I have no choice.

spark, fuel, compression, and timing is all a motor needs to fire up...check cam timing but my guess is your wrong about it getting fuel.

Or that it has spark at the correct time . I'd do a compression check , leakdown test , then dry the cylinder out, squirt a little oil down the plug hole and spin it over a few times to get it covered , then a squirt of known good gas down the plug hole and a new sparkplug , have the carb bowl drained empty. It should then fire , if not it's a spark(timing or pickup coil,stator ect..) or compression issue.

If it does fire for a bit , I'd pour some fresh gas down the hose to fill up the carb bowl< not from the gas tank> and squirt some more fuel down the plug hole and try it.
