Boise Area Tire Recommendation?

Recommended Posts

Sorry, I know this is probably asked all the time and I can't find an answer to the specific question I have.... New to Boise area and ready for new tires, would like something that does well in sand, rocks and overall dry conditions.

I have it down to two tires that review well... no idea if they are good fit:

Maxxis Desert IT OR Goldentyre GT216AA (Front), GT216X "GUMMY" (Rear)

I am mostly concerned with traction and better feel in deep loose sand, not super concerned with longevity as much as performance.

Riding a 2012 KTM XCF-W 350 if that helps.

The Golden 216x is a good choice for technical rocky riding. It will go away pretty quick though.

The Maxxis wears very good and can be rode on when you get a flat. (NA if you are running a Mousse or tubliss)

For summer mountain riding you might consider a rear trials tire. I run one year around. It isn't the greatest in sand out in the desert but still excels in rocky terrain. I use the IRC tubeless (with a HD tube) at about 10 PSI.

New ones, sorry couldn't resist. Just wanted to chime about the Maxxis desert rear, they are really tough but are very heavy, look into it. Trials rear tire great in mountains. The Michelin S12 rear is a good choice.
