2012 wr450f charging problem

I have recently bought a clean wr450f, it's a 2012 model with fuel injection, the starter sounds a bit lazy and won't start the engine but kicking isn't a problem,

I used it on Sunday and all started well but after an hour my battery was flat and engine died! We swapped batteries all day to get home!

Removed and checked alt! Reg/rec but both were fine! But when you put meter on battery it reads 12.7v and when you start the engine the meter just drops steadily so no charge from alt! Any ideas anyone?

Sounds like your battery is shot, have it load tested.

We swapped batteries no less than 10 times throughout the day and it done the same to Their batteries so that eliminates my battery as the problem

More than likely it is a corroded harness coming from the stator, or a bad ground in the main harness

Found problem last night, it was a positive junction of 6 wires next to battery tray, cleaned thames and back up to full charging again
