FCR 41 jets settings XR650R

Recommended Posts

I finally found a deal on an FCR 41 carb for the XR650R.

To my knowledge its the older slant body FCR.

2000 xr650r

most riding closer to sea level elevation

looking for any install tips/kits but more importantly the correct jets and settings and where to get the jet /carb kit.

Thanks!

I have an '01 XR650R, but darn, can't remember what's in it. Got a pipe and the proper stuff, everything but the slide, from XR's Only about 10 years ago. Have heard bad things about them now. On my current bike, CRF450X, I got a JD Jetting jet kit, followed the recommendations, and must say it is faultless. Even down to what needle should be in it below 40*F, which they are absolutely correct on. Some people say it's too pricey, but beats the heck out of the FMF (Dyno Jet) kit I replaced. It also takes ALL the guess work out of it. I highly recommend it. The XR is on the block if you know anyone that wants one. Nice bike, just too big for WV trails.

While the 41mm is great, the apump on it is not. It's waaaay to soft for the 650

Upgrade the linkage spring, put in the short pin/long throw diapraghm kit, and change the leak jet to 35.

Verify it squirts before installing the carb on the bike, as if it does not, you will have to soak the body to remove corrosion.

Jetting at 45p 170 main, and an NCVS needle should be fine. Some people have better luck with the larger pilot, because the stock apump is so weak for this motor. I dissagree.

Be sure to replace the slide plate seal and needle jet (emulsion tube) on that old carb, or you will hate whacky off idle issues....

Thanks Krannie!

does the NCVS have a certain setting/clip notch that it should be on?

The links you mentioned are not accessible for some reason.

Thanks again! Brent
