Pinesol.. I get ya... it ain't beautiful but... Considering what we started with.... I would say a functioning carburetor is an improvement

I found a fcrmx 37 from one of the local parters for $150 with the throttle... I'm not going to say it's not tempting.. It's the age old issue of building a bike like this that's a basket case... Where to stop

I've got a 1998 stock tank in excellent condition. You'd need the screw-on part of the fuel valve, but if you've got a tank already you might have it. I can supply the cap that came with it and one of the key copies I have (just don't come find my bike and ride away with it!) if you don't have a cap.

I just picked up a 2000 xr650l with a bad motor. Luckily I had another engine for it. I will be mostly cruising logging roads on mine when get it all working. Those look like might be a good 50/50 tire
