Air filter rips

Hey all. Accidentally made three small tears in air filter today. Is this okay to right for a few hours tomorrow? New air filter doesn't get in until Thursday. Filter is on an 08crf250r

I'm sure you'll be cool for a few hours, maybe lay the oil on a little heavier in those areas

I'd not use it. Murphys law says debris will get past. You should always have at least three air filters on hand. You can try and slather on some RTV but I doubt it will stick or cure properly.

Fill the tears in with a dab of grease.

 

Buy a new filter soon.

I'd run it until its dirty again and retire it at that point.  I'm guessing the tear in the red doesn't go through the inner layer?  The tears on the gray rim foam will probably be compressed once installed.

Filters definitely have a finite life span.  Delicate material, harsh chemicals.

+1.  I have done this several times.  No dirt will get past the grease.
