Rear brake pedal adjustment help

I just got a new dirt bike, but I'd like to adjust the rear brake pedal. The rear brake feels more instant than I'm used to. I know how to raise and lower the pedal, but is there a way that I can add free play? I want to have more space between "not  braking" and "locked up rear brakes". I can still ride the bike as it is now, I'm just used to more play in the break pedal. Thanks for your help.

Yes.....not sure what brand bike, but look at the plunger shaft that the end of the brake pedal pushes up into the master cylinder. Make that shaft smaller by loosening the lock nuts and screwing it in / reducing the length.

14 - 16 yzf's had this problem, yamaha changed rear disc material in 17 for this reason. Might be able to pick up a 17 disc

If you use the EBX carbon-X pads you will have more feel

Lengthening or shortening the rod linking the pedal to the master affects only the pedal position, not the free travel, because there is no external return stop on the pedal itself as there is with the front brake lever.  The free travel is entirely determined within the master cylinder.  Try the pads as recommended.
