1985 True Basket Restore

Recommended Posts

There's a lot to this build and I didn't plan on showing all of it.Here is just some of it though.145064869372924927914.jpg1450648933116911780760.jpg1450648830571235189021 (1).jpg20151226_184033.jpg I purchased this basketcase to strip and use for part's. At least that's what I thought. I wound up doing just the opposite. It was missing gas tank, pipe, baffle, seat, just to name the big stuff.I made a friend in Brian Fedigan from MXRestoration. He not only helped me he flat out gave me a frame, gas tank, seat, shock, front and back wheels, silencer, cyclinder, power valve and I'm sure I missed more.So here is the almost complete bike with the exception of a new or better pipe still.IMG_20170413_203954.jpgIMG_20170413_203915.jpgIMG_20170413_203643.jpgIMG_20170413_203414.jpg

just saw it on vital, from where you came from and where you are now you done good, are you ridding it? cuz it wont pull the skin off dried pudding but it will make a lot of noise trying

Thanks Pete, after seeing your bikes I'm honored you think I did good .I'm unfortunately a working man and intend to race it and ride this thing until I can't anymore. I have the utmost respect for people who sink so much money and time involved in doing one of these things but I'm just excited to get out and have fun with it. [emoji3]

I'm still looking for a full DG pipe for this bike if anyone has any information on one.$390.00 is the best price I've found from D/C Plastic's.Kinda hard to swallow that one and if that's what I have to do It will have to wait for some"work overtime".

Very cool, but I'd get to cleaning up your garage. There is a rag out of place on the workbench... and a leaf on the floor?! Shameful.

All kidding aside, outstanding bike (and garage). This shows determination and pride on a few different levels. Bravo!

Woooo! Looks awesome man!  Just curious why you're looking for a DG set up? I have a FMF and it wasn't too expensive. They don't make a spark arrestor for my '85 but the universal one should fit.

I ended up building my own muffler ... cost me almost nothing to build  !

DG is the only company making pipes for my bike except Jon at  Jemco. Jemco also doesn't have baffles made but will make you one if you send him your old one .By the time that all happens the total cost would be over  $500.00 . I'm sure his pipes are nice. Jemco didn't have any made and wanted  $380.00 for just the pipe again without baffle.
