Where on a bike is sag measured?

Recommended Posts

Where is the sag measurement taken on a wr450?  Obviously, the farther away from the swingarm pivot the measurement is taken the greater the measurement.  So?

I've always been under the impression that you follow the arc of the swingarm travel and measure "roughly" where it would intersect on the rear fender. That being said, current KTMs have a marked spot on the rear fender for people to reference...

Yea everything I have been taught has said not to go straight up from the rear axle but in an arc that the swingarm would follow. On my ktm I go right above the point or tip of the side # plate. If you go straight up from the axle to the rear fender, then forward a few inches (towards the bars) you should be good.
