Push cable really needed? (KLX300)

Recommended Posts

1997 KLX300 with stock CV carb. Just installed new throttle cables and I've got sticking throttle, meaning the throttle tube won't flip back to position after I give it some twist. I've tried adjusting but can't get it to not stick.

I want to try removing the push cable but curious if it is really needed? I think it's basically a DOT BS requirement

I didn't have one on my FCR on my KLX. While not necessary. There are thousands of KLX's that are fine.

Are you sure your throttle tube and cam area is clean and lubed?

Tube isn't hitting the bars?

Cables routed correctly?

New cables means thats not the problem.

I pulled the push cable off and it fixed my jamming problem. Looks like there the vinyl outer covering was worn off and the inner metal must be pinching the cable. Problem fixed. It's a CV carb anyways, it seems to work fine without it.
