LOL. is this a serious question?

Not trying to be an ass but the valves have a major effect on every aspect of engine performance. So much so that I am not going to take the time to explain the way an engine operates. Get them shimmed or rebuilt before your motor rebuild costs you 2k+.

Valve clearance too small = possibility of valves stuck open, wears out valve springs and retainers. Wears cam lobes, valve baskets, cam bearings, cam holders, oil passages, possibility of ignited fuel and air mixture exiting combustion chamber via intake valves in turn setting your air filter and carb on fire, Valve clearance Extremely too small = you risk a valve kissing the piston. Valve clearance too big = valves will not open enough - meaning not enough fuel and air entering the cylinder (extreme lean condition, follows with detonation and pinging) or not enough exhaust leaving the combustion chamber (exhaust will find a way to escape, generally through the piston rings and through the bottom end, blowing out crank seals and contaminating oil with fuel ) both of these are serious issues that need to be addressed before the bike is even started to avoid very costly repairs.
