Need help with overheating

Recommended Posts

Hey guys/gals and pretty much anyone that can help me. I just pulled my carb and cleaned the mess out of it. After putting my carb back on I am suddenly overheating horribly. Any suggestions as to why this would have started after just simply cleaning a dirty carb??

I've been thinking about this problem and we need to clarify a few assumptions. David, can we safely assume that you had absolutely no overheating issues prior to the carb rebuild? No loss of coolant, low coolant levels, bad radiator cap, etc?

If the answer is "no prior issues", I think maybe you might have installed the float wrong or have a bad connection at the intake boot.

Did you dunk the carburetor in some type of solvent or use harsh carb cleaner ?

If yes, and if some seals, o-rings and gaskets were still inside, they've swelled and now allowing an air leak.

It seems a common issue with FCR carbs if not completely disassembled

(pretty sure I remember reading about the mid-body gasket / seal and throttle slide seal being affected)
