Please tell me it isn't just me

I had a problem with no spark so i pulled some specs and ran some test on the stator, realized there was no reading from the pulser coil/trigger coil so i ordered one from the UK, waited 2 weeks, before i installed it i decided to test the old coil again and to my damn surprise i got the right readings. Is it possible for that to happen with a coil? Did i make a mistake multiple times with my initial testing? Or could the coil be faulty ? If it was a my mistake somehow, then how could i test the CDI ?
