DRZs Shock no Pressure!

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

I just received a used but very good looking condition shock for my DRZ400S, but there is no nitrogen. Well It actually showed about 25-30psi first quick check but then 0psi on the second check. I took it to a shop to recharge, but they will not get to it till Monday, and I am trying to decide if I should send it back or not. If it does not hold pressure, what kind of cost am I looking to fix it?

Thanks,

Greebe

When you read the pressure in a shock absorber with a tyre guage it will loose a significant amount of gas due to the small volume in the bladder.

Have it charged and see how it goes. It doesn't cost much.

As a short tern test, you can charge it with 100 psi air.  That will tell you if it holds pressure and works more or less normal.  You can ride on it like that.

IIRC, the manual calls for 165psi dry nitrogen.
