Replacement Radiator Cap

Recommended Posts

I have a 2007 KTM Xcf-w 250. The radiator cap is slowly weeping coolent when running. It's a 1.8 psi cap.

Should I replace it with another 1.8 or can I go with a 2.0 or 2.1 psi cap?

Sounds like you may just have a bad cap.....gasket on the cap isn't sealing.  Get another 1.8 cap.

If boil-overs aren't a problem, I wouldn't put the cooling system under any more undue stress using a higher pressure cap.

1.0 bar = 14.5038 PSI
1.1 bar = 15.9542 PSI
1.2 bar = 17.4045 PSI
1.3 bar = 18.8549 PSI
1.4 bar = 20.3053 PSI
1.5 bar = 21.7557 PSI
1.6 bar = 23.2060 PSI
1.7 bar = 24.6564 PSI
1.8 bar = 26.1068 PSI
1.9 bar = 27.5572 PSI
2.0 bar = 29.0075 PSI
2.1 bar = 30.4579 PSI

If a new cap still exhibits weeping, inspect the mounting flange for damage and

pressure test the cooling system (perhaps you have a blown head gasket).
