Oke, so im not opening an oil topic here on what oil is best/better. but in the karts here we ride with motul kart grand prix. it smells awesome. but on the bottle it says ester. motul 800 also has ester. What is so special about ester compared to other oils?

Esters are very thermally stable so they don't burn off easily on hot cylinder walls, and they are highly polar so they tend to cling to metal surfaces.

Esters are why castor oils are such good lubricants. As the castor oil breaks down it turns into a series of heavier and heavier esters, essentially making castor become a BETTER lubricant as it breaks down.

The downside is esters tend to be very hygroscopic, they will draw moisture right out of the air.
