Jetting question

Are you guys completely removing your carb when you are rejecting? I took mine off to clean it and I would hate to go through that over and over.

Yeah I want to know this as well. Every time I've attempted to rejet it's been a major pain in the ass.

Never remove the carb to re-jet for the main and pilot jet.

So how do you re-jet without removing the carb?

You rotate the carb.

It would be nice if you gave us a clue as to what bike you were asking about ....

Pre '07 are easier to rotate.

Damage to the hot start nut is probably if you are not careful.

Sorry about that. It is a 2006 wr450f.

I use these tools. Sometimes it's easier to start the Jets with a very thin piece of tubing over them to turn them.

What about the 04 wr… the steel frame is much more accessible but it's almost been easier to remove the carb for me then try to access the internals while attached to the bike.

Pilot from the bottom, rotate carb first and go through the  drain plug, or remove the bowl cover.

Emulsion tube from the bottom (a wear item).

Needle from the top, moving the carb back and forth to get at the cover screws.

Apump from the bottom, but the apump spring upgrade is best done by removing the carb (throttle wheel cover is hard to remove otherwise).

That's all you ever need to do, unless you have corrosion....
