Recommended Fluids (300RR RE)

Recommended Posts

Hey all.  Just wondering what fluids we are using on our Beta's.  I like to keep a nice extra supply for maintenance at home.  I checked the owners manual, and it recommends LIQUI MOLY fluids.  I look for these and most of the websites are not in english.  So what are we all using?

Pre Mix: I am using Motul 800 that came with the bike from dealer.  Seems good.

Trans oil: ? (I use Bel-ray 80 W Gearsaver in my YZ)

Brake fluid: I found Liqui Moly 5.1 on amazon

Coolant: ?  (May use engine Ice???)

Thanks!!

Why are you changing from amsoil 10-50. To rotella t6??

I might use engine ice for coolant.  Seems to be a lot of great feed back all over this site.

If I ran low, can I add a mixture of this or should I just drain and refil the whole system?

Thanks for all the replies

I see a lot of guys using T6. Is that always a 5w 40 oil?

Yup.  The only viscosity in T6.

You're in Minnesota.  Not worried about freezing?

Any reason my bel-ray Gear saver 80W wouldnt work at all?  Seeing I have a bunch, I may as well use that. Otherwise there is LIQUI MOLY 10W 40 on Amazon.

I don't usually have bike out when its THAT cold.  My riding is limited anyway with 2 kids (one more on the way) and a demanding job :(.

I just want something that is good for cooling and that I can keep on hand easy.

Tranny: Rotella t6, occasionally ATF.

Brakes: whatever el cheapo DOT 4 fluid I can get my hands on.

Forks: Maxima 5wt...this is what my suspension tuner recommends.

Coolant: Prestone mixed 50/50 with distilled water...the Beta 2strokes don't have an overheating problem like the orange bikes. Even during a hard enduro race, my bike didn't boil over.

Premix: Amsoil Saber @80:1...a lot of guys think this is crazy to run, but I still had a puddle of oil leftover in the bottom of the crankcase at the last rebuild. I'm not exactly a lugger, but the bike was still getting plenty of oil.

2017 300RR

Premix- Motul 800

Trans- Pro Honda HP Trans Oil, Motul trans oil is crazy expensive.

Coolant- Pro Honda HP Coolant Type 2, I do not know what coolant came with the bike but I did have some sediment floating on the top so I put in the Honda coolant and haven't seen any more. I'm not sold on that Engine Ice.

Brakes- Whatever Dot 4 I find at the local auto store.

Can keep it simple. Use Motul for everything.

A lot of race teams are sponsored by one oil company, but behind the trailer they actually use another brand becuase it works better in their bikes. Not Beta, this is what all the race team bikes use. Last year the team switched the transmission oil from the normal transoil expert to using the 7100 in the gear box too. We're not even sure why, we didn't notice any diffrance. Not even in our sensitive trials bike clutches.

Yes we are sponsored by Motul, but I wouldn't  go on record recommending it if it wasn't good stuff?  The only product I don't like of theirs is the air filter oil.
