Ttr 125 Valve guides

Recommended Posts

I recently picked up an 06 ttr125 for a couple hundred bucks knowing it smoked pretty badly. It smokes immediately once you start it and if you rev on it it will spray oil out of the tail pipe. I pulled the top end down tonight went ahead and ordered a new piston, rings, cylinder, valve seals, and guides. I'm not entirely sure how to replace the guides on it. Is it something that can be done in my garage or does it need to be done by a machine shop.

New valves are like $12 each and new guides will come with a top end kit so if you are pulling the head I would take it to a machine shop and have them do the work.  This link may help and even has the correct tool part numbers for the size of valve in the 125 if you do it yourself:
