Any riding spots in between Valencia, CA and San Diego, CA?

I usually ride either in Ocotillo Wells or out in the Lucerne Valley area.  My friend lives in Valencia (north LA County) and we want to ride together.  He went to Hungry Valley and said it was fun, but for me it is about 165 miles 1-way.  For him, Ocotillo is about 200 miles.   If there was something where we could at least trail ride legally it'd be awesome.  We are respectable late 30's dudes.  Right now I am on a red sticker, so I know I have restrictions; but if you had areas to recommend; I may get a green sticker soon and at least open my options.

I know this question is asked a lot, I glanced the forum, but man it's tough.  I do appreciate your input.

I am in north San Diego.  he is in Valencia (north LA).

Gorman isn't really much farther than Lucerne Valley for you.  LV is a little over 100 miles for him.  Stoddard Wells a little closer for both of you.

Silverwood Lake damn puts you around 115 and your buddy 85-90 miles.  Ride up into the Arrowhead Trails.

Rowher should be same or less than LV for you and in his backyard.
