DRZ 400 Counter Shaft Seal Question.

Recommended Posts

Attempting to replace countershaft seal on DRZ400 after putting a new seal in it still had slight leak. Removed the new seal and found the small V that is circled in the picture. It appears to be machined as the V gets slightly wider and deeper the farther into the case it goes. Is this normal? How do you keep it from dripping oil from there?

Not normal, probably from a PO trying to pry out the seal and they gouged it. You might be able to RTV or JB weld it.

New seal goes in flush with the outside of the case, oil behind it is pressurized.
