Frame bottom damage :(

Recommended Posts

I'd just get a good skid plate and keep riding!

You think so? The damage has actually holed the bottom of the frame, so you don't believe it has weakened it?

Ohh sorry man didn't realize it had a hole. I'm not to sure about that. Hopefully someone chimes in who's been in you're situation. I thought it was just indented a little. My bike has a few dents underneath. I put a ski plate on and I'm still riding.

OK thanks. Yes in the second picture you can see the damage is that bad that it has punctured a hole and about 1/4" of the bottom of the frame has been ground away. Would that be a structural part of the frame?

You will have to overlay the same type of material on top of the damaged sections and weld it up. Make sure you extend the new material at least one inch past the old. The material should be 1/4" thick at a minimum. I would never sell it due to the liability and inspect it for cracks after every ride. If cracks or separation appears part it out. Good luck.
