Piston research

Recommended Posts

I can clearly see the difference in the pistons '83 and earlier, and '86 and later as compared to the 84-85. Even though the rings sets have different part numbers also, I'm thinking the physical dimensions of the rings must be the same if the piston OD is the same, as long as the ring grooves have not been changed. I may just ordering the later (or earlier) model xr200 rings and give them a try, for my '85.  I am also comparing the piston, rings and pin specs for the Suzuki GSX 400, which is 398 cc with two 199 cc cylinders and the 67mm piston. If possible, I am going to buy the 400 piston and rings and modify if needed. That bike has 10:1 compression.
