Checking mikuni float level with clear tube method

Recommended Posts

I swapped out the stock carb for a real  Mikuni vm24 a while ago.  Finally got it running great with swapping jet sizes but think the float level is possibly too high.  It seems to overflow fuel at the slightest tip or incline.  I've searched posts but can't find a simple answer for this carb where the fuel level should be if you are using the drain tube held vertically next to the carb.  Even with the bowl gasket? or higher or lower by how much?  Thanks in advance for any help.

Some carbs go by specific fuel level which requires the clear tube method to measure, like my YZ125 (Mikuni TMX38)

others a specific 'mechanical' height of the float as suggested by the above specs.

Thanks for the diagram.  I guess I'll take the bowl of and measure it that way.  That at least gives me a value to shoot for.   Once I set it to that, I may mark the outside of the bowl with the tube method to see how any float adjustments will actually effect the fuel level.  Thanks again for the schematic.  Brian
