98 kx 250 Crank Questions

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

This is my first post here, I recently acquired a 98 KX250 fairly cheap as it was locked up. I was hoping it would just be a top end deal, well it is not. The big end bearing was seized. My question is, can the stock crank be rebuilt with a new rod, or is it best to just buy a whole new rebuild kit? I realize I will need new bearings, seals, and gaskets. The top end looked good, but I am going to replace the piston kit anyway. Cylinder looked good, no scratches and supposedly has had the cylinder coated recently.

Thanks in Advance.

I found the answer I was looking for.. Should have just searched a bit more. Now onto who to have it rebuilt by... I was looking at Ken O'Conner. Seems reputable, and fairly priced as well.

Everything you need to know is in this video and on my site. If the crank is stock, have it rebuild by Ken O'Connor.
