Raptor Petcock Mod Question

Recommended Posts

I just did the raptor petcock mod and had a quick question.

Running an FCR39 what happens if one night I forget to turn it to the off position?

Here is the petcock I bought. So far I really like it.

on an fcr it probably wont be a big deal .. on a mikuni, theyre designed to be sealed to the outside air for emissions i presume, so if your needle and seat arnt perfectly sealed it will 'vent' the fuel right into your crankcase .. i suggest not forgetting ..

I've almost stopped turning my petcocks off again since putting a couple fcr's in a few bikes . I've never shut a petcock off till I bought the DRZ , seems to be the Mikuni carb on these that has all the troubles. It's always best to shut them off but not the end of the world (unless leaking gas in the garage starts a fire ).

I never worry about shutting my petcock off either because I still use the same stock oem unit after 40,000 miles.I love the convenience and rebuilding is cheap if they ever go bad.
