New SSR 70C- Front fork question

Recommended Posts

I just bought my son an SSR 70c, after two weeks on the local trails he's complaining about the front suspension. It bottoms out on everything. Can I add oil to these forks? The bottom has a hex bolt that doesn't really look like a bleeder. Or should I look getting new forks? He's about 80 lbs.

If there is a hex head on top of the fork, the oil can be changed. The procedure in this video is one way to do it.

Another way is to take the fork legs out one at a time and pour the old oil out the top.

I don't know the best oil weight to use or the best oil level for this bike. Someone else can chime in with that. But certainly changing the oil will make the forks feel a lot better, I also wouldn't be surprised if one or both legs didn't have near enough oil in the first place.
