18" rim on standard hub

Recommended Posts

My rim has a flat spot in it and I'm going to replace it. Bike is a 2001 cr250. I'm looking at putting an 18" rim on it but I don't have enough for a whole new wheel so my question is...... can you lace the standard hub up to an 18" rim obviously I'd need 18" spokes but as long as the rim was also a 32 hole rim it shouldn't be an issue right?

YES, you can do what you are asking about. I just did this exact same thing. I tore down my original rear wheel off of my 2001 CR250 and laced it up inside an 18" rear rim.  You can go look at a post I started here;

It even has pictures of my original Honda hub before I smoothed it, and got it powder coated. I have it laced up in the new rim now and all of the spokes dropped in perfectly.

Good work man it looks awesome. What was the name of the red used on your hub? Do you have a link to the YouTube video you used?
