Regulator on E-Line or Hodgekins stator

Recommended Posts

Let me preface with stating that I am electrically challenged. Finally wrapping up my E-Line install. I believe they came with a A/C voltage regulator, I have attached a pic to verify. If that is what this is, I will probably use it temporarily then eventually go to a rectifier and mini battery.

Anyhow....mounting this little sucker. Does it get hot? Can it safely touch plastic? Does it need to be grounded? It lands in the airbox area with the harness that it came with, just don't want issues with my choice of mounting.

I have found that the early kit I bought with the Electrolux 35w stator, the regulator had to be directly to the frame for earth mount, a wire didn't work. I mounted my new Reg/Rec on one of the top frame to engine head mounts and it works good there (out of the way of tank etc.)

That looks like it needs to be direct earth also.

Thanks Doc. I drilled a tapped the subframe in the airbox to mount the regulator. Just fired it up, flipped the switch and stared into the beautiful light! Lol
