Excess oil in top end?

Recommended Posts

Top end sounded a little off, so i decided to check valve clearance. When removing the caps to check the clearance oil poured out? Never have had this happen before, what up? Is this normal?

Bike ran for maybe 5 minutes max. I removed the caps 10 min after that.

Just changed the oil, put 2 quarts in. Its not over filled.

Let it sit for another 30 min, so its cold now. Doesn't look like it went down.

Here is a pic, hard to get a good one but u can see the oil level. This is after a decent amount already spilled out of the cap.

Try leaning the bike over 45-60 degrees to the right, opposite of how it leans on the kickstand. Then back to the stand or kickstand. IIRC, the timing chain channel is the only place where oil drains back to the bottom end on RFVC engines.

Did you drain ALL the oil? Not only do you pull the drain plug at the bottom of the engine, you also have to pull the frame down tube drain plug.
