What type of gasoline do you use?

Recommended Posts

So, what type of gas I you use on your 501?

where I live we can choose between RON 95 and RON 98. I've been using 95 this far, not really sure if it will be any advantages with the 98.

Anyone got any experiences they'd like to share?

Octane is already in gasoline, at a certain percentage. Octane is not a gas, the the calorific value of a fuel.
How much amount of energy will x amount of fuel reduce upon burning.
High octane fuel is used in performance cars, its a must in them.
like 95 octane.
Low octane is used in normal cars, like 86 octane.
If you use higher octane fuel you'll get a better FE and slightly better performance.

I look  for  whatever  has  the least  amount of ethanol.       and  drain it out of the  carb  when done  w  the  ride.  also use  a  stabilizer  in  the  tank  if  it is going  to sit awhile.

I like to mix 1 part 100AV (low lead aviation fuel) with 1 part 91octane pump gasoline (no ethanol) both cost roughly $4 a gallon.

Higher octane fuel doesn't mean better performance if the motor doesn't need the detonation resistance. You basically want to run the lowest octane the motor can run with out detonating to get the best performance out of the motor.

Octane is a hydro carbon and is a component of gasoline. Octane rating is the fuels resistance to detonation, not calorific value of a fuel.
