Slip-On Exhaust Installation

Recommended Posts

I installed a Lexx slip-on exhaust on my 2007 CRF250X a couple weeks ago and yesterday had to unbolt it to lift up the sub frame.  The muffler slid right off.  I'm wondering if I didn't apply enough silicone.  Either that, or I should have allowed the silicone to cure for a day or so before starting the engine.  However, the last step in the install instructions is to start the engine, bring it up to temperature, and check for leaks.  I'm thinking maybe this compromised the bond.  Thoughts?  Are there aftermarket headers available that clamp onto the muffler so I don't have to worry about this everytime I lift the subframe?
