Replacing throttle side grip

Recommended Posts

My grips always get grip glue and safety wire, probably for the past 40+ years - guess I'll take the throttle side down all the way to see if there is a problem with removing the flange. The Domino grip fits over the flange and of course aftermarket do not and the gap looks like something to collect unwanted items such as tree pieces and other things. I'll post what I came up with.

That's a locating rib for the OEM grips. I have always went right up to it or over like OEM if grips have a groove.

Well I ended up leaving the rib and just safety wiring the grip on, just in case I changed my mind. I think it may have been a case of looks since it leaves quite a bit of space between the grip and the housing. Went on a ride yesterday with a young fella (73, 2 yrs younger than myself) on a xtrainer, he had changed his grips and left the rib. Most likely will pull it off after the weekend and glue it also.

Thanks for the reply.
