2001 XR100R - shock/swing arm squeek

Recommended Posts

When putting pressure on the bike, somewhat hopping up and down on the seat, there is a noticeable squeeking noise on the shock or swingarm.

I checked, but cannot locate any grease points/nipples.

Any ideas as to how to get rid of this? For now, I sprayed WD40 in all of the moving parts I could find, but it has not improved the situation just yet.

Do I need to wait until the WD40 had some time to work it's way inside the moving parts?

Any suggestions how to get rid of this annoying squeek?

Thanks in advance.

That might work
The linkage needs to be lubed
Tons of info about it on here, it's easy, takes about 30 min

The correct fix is to disassemble the suspension, remove the swing arm. Clean out the bearings/bushings, replace what is worn or rusty and grease with a quality water proof grease. You should do the same with the headset and also while you are at it, inspect and repack the wheel bearings.
