It helps if you use some kind of cleaning solvent with the SCOTCH BRITE pad... instead of just going in Dry. No body likes that...

If You have an air compressor you can build a soda blaster for about 30 bucks.  The soda is soft enough not to hurt the aluminum, but will remove the stains.  Mine works great.

Not if you get a factory, no plating, just raw steel.  Like my pipe. 

Mine isn't an FMF, but you get the idea.

well I only use the gnarly, nickel plated.

So that mean's FMF pipes don't rust, lol you can even have the plated pipes rust too.

Idk. maybe I smash mine up before they rust but besides the two or three spots the get gouged my rocks mine don't rust.

Mineral spirits and a stiff Vynal brush, then rinse with brake cleaner, FTW! Keep in mind that hot soapy water will QUICKLY ruin bearings and anything else ferrous. I found this out the very expensive hard way...
