Cam bearing replacement

Recommended Posts

05 crf250r. My oem cam is shot. Was looking into OEM, or a stage 1 hot cams.

Heres my question, if the oem cam and cam gear is a press fit, how the heck do you replace the cam bearings on the cam?

I figured the hot cam kit would have bearings already on it, but that's not the case. So im back at square one.

Unless anyone knows of a kit that has the bearings already on them?

you can replace the bearing on the opposite end of the cam gear, just have to remove the decompression mechanism.  As for the bearing on the end with the gear...press it off install a new bearing and press the gear back on and hope its lined up right.  Looking at the hot cams website they show their cams with the bearing already installed on the gear side.  you will just need one for the other side.  I would assume if you buy an OEM cam it will come with the gear side bearing already installed as well.

I called rocky mountain atv, motosport, and neither could answer that for me. So I called hot cams directly. Your right, new bearing comes behind gear. Have to order new bearing for right side though.
