Ride height after tire change

Recommended Posts

I tried replacing the rear tire to a large 140/80 MICHELIN Enduro Competition. The grip and comfort is good, but I feel that the bike became nervous.

When the diameter of the rear wheel is increased, do you think I need to lower the ride height /sag in order to bring back the balance?

I have the forks all the way down.

Bike is YZ250F -15

Yes. Bar height, Sag, and Tire size (both front and back) all significantly affect ride height. A 140 rear tire may be as much as 2-2.5 cm more in diamater than stock, (12.5mm raise to the rear ride height) which is a big change in balance. In theory you would want to reduce/soften preload in the rear, or raise the front end of the bike higher to compensate.
