Naches motorized travel plan

Recommended Posts

That was written poorly to purposely get people wound up.Currently you can travel off trail or off forest service roads if you dont do environmental damage. It is a vary gray area. But once travel management is passed the only area one can go off trail will be the Funny/moonrock  area. The USFS is closing a loop hole.  The article makes it sound like there will be no trails anymore. After travel mgmt goes through motorized travel will only be allowed on approved USFS trail and roads. . And as far as the Naches district is concerned all the current approved motorized trails will remain.

That "loophole" was allowing public access to public lands for responsible use.

The no offtrail/road travel law is federally mandated in the plan not much can be done on the district level about that. All though however irritating closing that loophole is there are some other rules and regulations that are wrote in that if enforced will net the USFS A lot of tickets.
