Just acquired 74 Can Am 125 TNT

Recommended Posts

Hey guys. Last night a bought a bike that I knew nothing about. When I got home I did a VIN search and found out it is a 74 Can Am 125 TNT. I am now nervous because I expect it will be very hard to get parts for. The kid I got it from said it was his dad's who bought it new. He also claims it ran and rode 6 years ago until parked. It still turns over and there is old fuel in the tank but the trans is stuck in gear.  The shifter moves up and down but it feels like the detent arm may be broken. I have a few questions before I pull covers off to take a look.
Can I still get gaskets for this bike? Is the oil injection system reliable? What type of crankcase oil goes in it? Does anyone know where I might find an online service manual? Do I have any chance at being able to find parts for it? Thanks!

Engine parts and service manuals are available via atkusa.com.

The other sites mentioned above are excellent resources as well.

Americandirtbike.com is another great source for engine parts & service.

Gaskets and lots of other parts are available. Great find!
