Skid plate that actually covers external stator??

Recommended Posts

Has anybody had experience with a skid plate that comes out far enough to protect the e-line/Hodgkins stator. I'm thinking I may have to go aluminum and weld a "wing" on it. Some rocky races are coming on the schedule. :ride:

Yeah thats probably your best bet - weld a wing and brace it to the frame  :excuseme:

You can also buy a sheet of PE (6mm is pretty solid) , make yourself a kind of coordinate grid (50mm increments or whatever) and then measure the widths you want to have. Transfer the coordinates to some paper, cut it out, wrap around the engine. If it fits, transfer the shape to the PE, cut out. Wrap around engine using heat gun. Weld the gaps with heat gun, PE sticks and PE welding nozzle. Make some frame mounts, done...

Thanks,  mate :ride:

Forming takes a bit effort, but until now I did not find another PE bashplate with a similar coverage. Can't say much about the protection against rocks, but it should do pretty well. Does not collect much sand, surprisingly.

Just had to remove the bashplate for fresh oil and thought I could add some pictures.
