Are KTM tanks compatible?

Recommended Posts

I have a 2012 Ktm 125 sx and want a larger tank to race hare scrambles. I saw on acerbis they have a 4.1 gallon tank that fits a 125,150,250,and a 450sxf. So i was wondering if the stock tanks from these are compatible? Like if i could but a Ktm 250xcw tank on my 125. Is this possible?

You have to be careful assuming that one part fits all on these websites. As in the case of these tanks, they may have their 4.1 gal tanks that fit each model but are different part numbers, as there may be subtle differences in frame geometry for 1 part number tank to fit all.

All ktms have always interchanged with eachother, within roughly the same frame era. So on your 12, like said a 11-15 2 stroke tank will swap in, regardless of cc size. Exception would be the efi 4 strokes. You dont want that tank.

but same frame eras swap over. My 99 has a 07 tank, my 15.5 4 stroke frame has a 16 up 2stroke tank.

On my 99 i have 2 tanks, one small one for ease of carb tuning, a big one for range. the small one is off a 06 250sxf, the big tAnk i use is from a 07 xc.

KTM wouldn't pull that kind of garbage. For at least the past four generations, they've made as much the same as possible. The only differences to the frames are the frame cradles to fit to the various motors. As long as the part is from the same model generation and isn't one of the parts that actually differentiates it from the other models (IE: the motor, intake components, electronics, etc), then it will fit. However, since the 4 strokes became fuel injected, those tanks are no longer compatible due to fuel pumps and fuel hoses. That being said, any tank that fits a 2011-2016 KTM 250/300 SX/XC/XCW/EXC 2 stroke, 2011-2015 125/150SX/XC/XCW/EXC 2 stroke, 2012-2016 200XCW/EXC and 2011/2012 carbed 450 4 strokes will work with a 2012 125SX.
