01 Honda cr250r build

Recommended Posts

As the title says, I'm gonna be rebuilding my 01 cr250r after I drowned it in a creek. Right now, the bike is all apart and I'm waiting for my parts to arrive. BTW that's a pretty worn out bike so it will just add more fun during the rebuild process. Here's a parts list of what I'll be installing on it :

-OEM internals ( already ordered and waiting for them) that includes all the bearings/ seals, the crankshaft and the piston plus some bushings and the gaskets

- Cylinder re-coating

-Boyesen Rad valve

-Boyesen clutch cover and ingnition cover

-Hinson clutch

-Pivot Works bearings for the wheels, steering stem, linkage and swingarm

-PC works pipe and 204 silencer

-Acerbis replica plastic kit

-Decal MX custom graphic kit

-DID x-ring chain

-Renthal sprockets

-UNI air filter

-Pro taper 1 1/8 handlebar metal mulisha edition

-ASV clutch perch/lever  and brake lever

-Footpegs (still have to decide which one I want)

I'm also polishing the frame swingarm and subframe , giving back the engine it's factory look and I already have a keihin pwk A/S for it. I still want to buy excel a60 rims but that'll be in the future with new tires. While I'm waiting for my parts, I started to clean/polish the frame and the other parts that needs to be cleaned here's a quick look at the frame before and after clean up. BTW that's just using regular dish soap some scotch-brite and aluminum wheels cleaner

If you want a mirror finish get a drill and some polishing wheels .

That's already done.

It's been a long time since the last update and I got a LOT done to the bike.  Most of it was cleaning and getting everything  ready for the new parts. From the pictures you can tell that this bike was totally worn out. I was afraid at the beginning of the linkage disassembly that I would have to find new linkages but I've been able to remove the old rusty bearings with a press but the sound it was making was driving me crazy! I also got the cylinder replated and now the bottom end is almost rebuilt I still have to center the crank and get my new clutch installed but that'll be in the next few days. All the parts have been soda blasted so they look like new but for the crankcase I also used miuratic acid to remove the stains in the aluminum. Also I got the crankcase repaired by a machinest as it was cracked on the bottom. The rear caliper images will tell you what soda blasting can do that's a before/after comparison

It's one that I've posted in the past, yes. I believe it was the last "fresh rebuild" post I did on this site.

Whats your thoughts on it, do you like the way she came out? The finished product?

I really like how it turned out but the only thing I dont like is the black frame IMO you should have let it bare aluminum

I much prefer the oem fuel line. And if you are using ethanol fuels be very sure the in line filter is spec'd for them. If not it WILL become brittle and come apart at the worst possible time.

Well guys I apologize for the delay I've been really busy during the past weeks but I had quite a lot of time to work on the bike. Here's more pics of the project 20170722_162047.jpg20170722_191017.jpgreceived_775361299303624.jpeg20170723_162829.jpg20170728_122148.jpg20170729_145919.jpg
