Is this a sleeved or plated cylinder?

This is the cylinder to my 1980 KDX 400 A2. I can't decide if its plated or sleeved, a magnet sticks to the inside of the bore but i saw someone say its eletrofusioned with molybdenum so it could be the coating that's magnetic.... it still runs with compression but i hope to sleeve it this winter with a steel or iron sleeve so i can bore it as needed.

^ what he said. Looks like it COULD be sleeved but I'm not sure. Take a picture of the bottom of the cylinder. Look for a place where you think you see the seem between sleeve and cylinder.

Looks like LA sleeve makes a sleeve for the '80 KDX175. Not sure about the 400...

Kawasaki also made a KDX450 80-82 and also a KX420 80-81 -  just wondering if any of those cylinders are interchangeable with the KDX400

There, also how long do you think i have left on this jug? It was running with compression before i tore it down because the small end bearing was going bad.

It should be a plated cylinder and it looks like it.

Yep definitely plated - cant see any sleeve outline

Ok thanks! Is the cylinder in good enough condition for fresh rings or would it be best to stick with the old ones?

You gotta measure it and check your tolerances in your manual.

If the specs are not in tolerance, I would check with La Sleeve as they support Wiseco for legacy pistons, rings, and sleeves on the non current product that Wiseco used to support
