DRZ Oil Sump filter

Recommended Posts

Hey All,

Taking care of left side bottom end rebuild after stator bolt snafu.  I know there is an internal oil sump filter but does not look like it's accessible without tearing the whole crankcase open.  Two questions;  Is it advisable to try and clean that filter after such an issue i.e. how much debris is likely to have made it there.  And any guidance on how to access more easily.

thanks

No easy way to get to it. If there was a lot metal bits in there, I think I would split the cases anyway.

Thanks! Can you do so without taking the head off? To remove the case? Or is it all done from right side?

No the whole motor has to be disassembled. You could try and remove both side covers, tip the bike over on it's side and spray brake cleaner all up in there, probe around with a small super magnet and let it drain out the other side.
