so my buddy got a rm 125 rode it for a day blew up took out the piston bike had a whole slew of problems with it anyways I got the head studs out power valve out and I wanted to do a polishing on the exhaust port ik to get that mirror finish pretty much but the transfer ports have a lot of factory casting marks and I didn't kno what texture I should have the transfer ports

got a couple days b4 the piston gasket kit gets here then off to the machine shops for a bore and a replate

Unless you know what you are doing, I do not suggest doing your own porting and polishing.

The most important part is matching the piston/cylinder/cases/gaskets. 

The 'shiney-ness' is not going to do a thing on it's own.

and if changing the roughness of the walls of the transfers made a difference then you'd have to change the timing to match.

more turbulence = more atomized fuel mixture = quicker burning mixture = more retarded ignition timing is needed

Matching; You mean so the walls, gaskets etc are more sort of more seamless?
Eg the gasket doesn't stick out between the top and cylinder?
