What's up with this head?

Recommended Posts

Quick few photos of my bike, it's quite old being the original 2005 SM model and has 33,000 miles on the clock but runs like a dream.

The other pic is of the engine, it looks to me like the head is clearly newer/different to the bottom part of the engine. Just a simple replacement at some point due to the mileage of this bike? Larger bore kit that the previous owner didn't know about? (it goes like stink by the way and is much quicker than my mates Kwak 650 single), head work, cams etc?

Any answers greatly appreciated.

Head and cylinder mismatching like that is totally normal for stock engines. Still possible you could have a big bore, several brands are unmarked so you would never know until you open it up.

looking at it i would guess its likely been off and the gaskets were not prepped good and jacked up .. thats all you can tell by looking at the outside ..
