XT350 - improving the front brake

Recommended Posts

Is there any usual way to improve the front brake performance on an XT350. I have a 1990 model, and even with new disc and pads the breaking isn't great - but then the caliper isn't up to much.

Swap out your rubber brake line with a s/s braided line

Rebuild your caliper, master cylinder, replace the brake fluid.

I found rebuilding the caliper sorted mine out , I took out the rubber seals and cleaned all the corrosion out under them and it made a huge difference

i rebuilt the caliper as part of the resto, and new pads and disc. Brake pipe is probably original 1990 so I think that needs to go.

Fresh pads, fresh rotor surface, fresh guts in the caliper and master and a braided hose.    Makes a world of difference.

i rebuilt the caliper with new pads and disc/rotor as part of the rebuild so that should all be good. hose next on the list i think.

it passed it's MOT at the weekend with no advisories, not bad for a 27 year old bike.
